Photographically: Something to think about when shooting still-life like this: the subject doesn't always need to be deadcentre. This is a very common thing to do, but you can very often get a stronger image if you consider the framing and placement of the subject (this is true for many forms of photography). Another tip for still-life photography like this, take the time cleaning the things you're having within the frame. Imagine if the black keys where polished here... this would give you a stronger contrast from the beginning.
Post-processing: I don't know what software you used to crop this etc, but personally I think this image would benefit from something like 20% clarity also adding some extra contrast here would be nice. And sharpening the subject(s) would also help the message be even clearer.
All in all I like the idea and I encourage you to keep trying these kind of setups as it's going to teach what works and not in the long run. I've seen many dailydeviations come from setups like this - images with a solid theme.
Looking at this photo closely, I like the black and white contrast. I kind of feel like the tiny piano should've been in color, since it tends to be the main focus. Not bad, though.
Other than that, I like how there's a piano in the photo, also. I'm impressed at how it doesn't show the full piano, but just a tiny portion of it. It's basically like a supporter for the tiny piano.
One thing that I've found intriguing about the tiny piano is the lid. Looking closely at it, the lid kind of looks like a heart. It makes me think that it might be a passion or something along those lines.
One thing I've found dissatisfying about the photo is that there's no sheets of music. If there were some in focus, it would've helped bring the photo out more.
But overall, this photo tends to speak many volumes, which gives it that powerful impact that it needed. So, many kudos! Other than that, I was impressed by the overall imagery that this photo portrayed.
Is the mini piano your "totem"? (reference to 'Inception' lol).
Anywhooo... I believe the depiction to be of a passion, although not mine, I venture to say yours. It's like the life of a pianist on the large scale and the present focus that has encapsulated his (or her) being, their whole life and purpose- the trivial and the grand. Neat concept 93
Keep up the awesome work!- Thanks for joining #SayItHere!
